I was referred to this site by Raging Rhino on Pirate4X4. He referred me to Abdul, the master of LJ modifications. I dropped by to ask for some insight and recommendations. I am working on my first LJ build and have found little support in the US. All comments are invited and welcomed! BTW- RR pointed out that the LJ was named Rhino way before the Yamaha Rhino. I was the Cheif Engineer on that product design. Here is my build: www.zukikrawlers.com/showthread.php?t=50911She should be running this weekend! Enjoy! ~Carnage

hi there, iv done a few mods on ljs most of ours have 1.6 vitara engines , some have vitara power steering some have Mitsubishi shogun power steering, we use vitara back axcells shortened by 9inch to fit lj with rear coils suspension, fronts leaf springs with shackle reverse , we junk the lj transfer box and fit sj sammy transfer and gear box , to be honest the only things that are lj now are the chassis, all the body work and fuel tanks , i have got std ljs but they are hateful to drive , there are so many mods you can do to them but depends what type of off roading you intend to do and if you want to drive it on the highway and off road it to , what mods we have done makes them drive fine on road 80mph no probs and thats with 33inch swamper tyres and great gearing for the deep stuff , hope this help m8

Does the body tunnel need to be modified to fit the Samurai t-case? I would like to run a 6.5:1 case but am concerned that if will have to cut the hell out of the body or frame to fit it in there.

yes you have to cut tunnel but it is hidden under the seats , the chassis tube has to be cut out completely that hold lj transfer box and new fixings welded on for sj box and then re brace across chassis behind t box , it is a lot of work and to do it would recommend taking body tub off ,

Thanks for all the good info!
