I've not long got back. Below are some of the trails you can do in a rental Jeep, They have 2 & 4 door Rubicons which I must say are amazing on & off the trails. They're $200 a day to rent which if there were 4 of you your looking at £30 a day. There are loads of camp sites and some have 4 berth wooden shacks with electric and wi-if. Communal showers. About £20pppn Return flight all the way out to Moab Canyonlands is about £600. So £1,000 (if you split it between 4 friends) should more than do it for just over 1 week of the most awesome 4x4 driving. That's £20 a week saving for the next year.... Or put some of it on the credit card.
Easter 2014 is late April but you need to book it all by October. (I've put the numbers to Leigh & Kirk and am hoping they'll make it out)
It is in my opinion the best offloading on the planet as the scenery is nothing short of out of this world. When scouting for filming locations for Star Wars George Lucas was shown some photos of Moab but he rejected the area because he said it looked to unreal.
You get the idea. Plenty more videos of Moab Easter Jeep Safari on youtube

Unfortunately I missed this on Big Saturday as I was out on a really long trail. Big Saturday is amazing because the police shut down Main Street at about 9am then one by one the various groups, that have been waiting in the designated side streets for the last hour or so (1 side of a side streets for each trail, about 40 trails in all & about 40 rigs in each group) all leave to go out and do their trail in a group.
Obviously Bland Rovers can do all this in reverse gear cos they're so awesome

Hotels. For a bit more money you can stay in a hotel. About £120 a night for a room Most hotel rooms have 2 queen or king size beds. So if you have 2 friendly couples you can cut down your costs even more. A fridge and microwave are also standard in a room as well as cable tv and wi-fi.
I started going in my very late 20s and would combine a week in Moab with a week driving around. I'd fly into one airport say Phoenix in Arizona and spend almost a week driving to Moab via Monument Valley or into Las Vegas for a few days and drive to Moab via the Grand Canyon and Death Valley. Then at the end fly home from another. (This was before I realized Moab had an airport)
Any one interested speak to Leigh and he'll give you my contact details and we can discuss some more.
Be good to see some of you guys out here.
There are also some amazing national parks with the most incredible prehistoric views, Arches, Needles, Dead Horse Point and Island in the Sky which you can do after a day on the trail just to keep the other half happy and so you take home some touristy pics in between all your 4x4 pics.
