I think you need to very compitient at welding to work on a truck.

These trucks get some hammering and without being mellow-dramatic could kill you if not built properly.

Get it done by someone who knows what they are doing (Like Leigh). And practice on other stuff till you are confident enough to do it yourself.....IMHO.
