Right then it about time i did a thread on barbie. I got the Sammy in 2007 and it was standard and also look like the mode of transport that barbie would use hense the name. it didnt take long to find half the truck missing due to tin worm, so having never really been in this situation before me and my mates got stuck in patched it up and started bolting bit on i will let the pictures do the talking. enjoy. first bit off road crappy photo but you can see what i was dealing with, Barbies car! got my self some wheels and tyres i think you might can be able to tell that the front bumper is home made as well. well it stayed like this for about bout a year or so and my rear light started playing about abd my bumper rotted out so i made my own but it was rubbish so it didnt last long. my luck wasn't in this month this was embarrassing in rush hour, and i was just about to go on the motorway and just after fixing it by the side of the road i got pulled by the police. prob in 2008 now.

right then here we go again i have just finished a engine transplant from 1.3 on a webber carb to a 1.6 vit engine and carb, As usual i will let the pics do the talking. first thing to do was find a monkey to work for peanuts. CHECK out with the old In with the new painted up engine. well got it in and turning over but it would not start, after a bit of head screactching i tried turnning the engine over with the spark plugs removed and found cup fulls of coolant come pouring out of the plug hole, so cyl head off was the next job. you can see the pure coolant coming out of the sump, something is amiss. head off now and found the block was cracked between the cylinders. now i think this was prob caused by me knocking the engine off its stand in my garage when it was in storage but i thought i got way with it, so quick phone call to everyone friendly mate Leigh, and he sorted me out a short engine (ie block and pistons) for a bargin price which helped me out coz i was running low on funds. so i removed the old block again and the gear box this time coz it was realy messy and dirty and pissing me off. with all the bits removed i pressure washed eveything. you can see the diffrace a bit of elbow grease does. before after then with all the bits cleaned i started the build it all back up again.

i put the engine and gearbox in as one which was stupid it was much harded than i thought but it went in just required a bit of GBH. the moment of truth am i as good as i should be and i have i bugged another one. its alive !!! altogether now and a custom top hose to go with my new well new to me radiator which is from a super carry van. look at the state of the old one!!! so i have managed to get it running but it is not 100% it coughs and spluters and lacks in power so i did some head scratching and found the choke kept closing on its own. you can see it in the pic on the right of the throttle body. so i have sorted that with a tips from the Aging Rhino him self leigh. loads better but still coughs and spluters, i stripped the carb and did some more cleaning. By the way i like cleaning!!!!! look what i found full of crap with that done i save a few pennys and and got my self a clutch kit mostly coz in my wisdom i my have forgoton to take the realse bearing out of the gearbox when i jet washed it so it became very noisy when being used. well i have been driving it as much as poss becuase all this preperation is for marquentere so the heat is on i have less than 5 days till kick off and disaster stright away my gear box is pissing out gear oil, i replace the out put shaft seal when i did the cluch coz it looked like it was leaking, well this is what i found. you can just make out the hole in the pic its the black spot in the middle of the sliver of the gearbox. some monkey had liquid welded it up before (not the one from the frist picture i might add) so with only 2 day left now till the ferry leaves i liquided welded it again. kept drivin it for the last two days and it held out bring on Marquentere!!!!

Time for an update i think! A bit of Marquentere first from 2011 The most fun i think i have had in a long time. In the dock where i managed to drive past everyone in the car park and ended up on an earlier Ferry and had to wait on the other side for over an hour Doh!! On route The camp site A bit of local architectural home made fridge of sorts! and dinner from the local market (recommend this) Sunday morning before we all set off Another truck broken down again Looking Goooooood!!! end of the day on the way home well when I got back it sat in the garage for about two months until I decided its time to cut out what I thought was a bit of rot (It was a lot worse than I thought) So for ease i took the hole front end off cut all the Rot out and a bit more and I also found a bit of filler and I also put a new snorkel ( thanks to our local council for leaving this bit of pipe behind after some road works) And now I am off Down under for the next few years so its up for sale! I will keep a new blog updated if I can afford and new project hopefully a V8!!!!!
