Fiddle brakes ummm....Well my understanding of it was that it was mainly used to reduce turning tight angles I would guess this was the main use a secondery banefit is that you can lock a wheel if it spinning to move drive to the other side. I have only used it on a old fregonson tractor when I was on the lifeboat as a lauch driver Ive never seen it anywhere else other than that I'm done

hi mate... I've seen them in use offroad and they work well but as the name says they are fiddley to use and can be exspencive if you want to do all four, then you have to set them up inside the cab so most of the brake pipes have to be rerouted etc etc But i would only use them if i was doing lots of trials and the might just use a arb locker

Nice answers. Come on let's have some more. Techno I would love lockers however there 600 nuggets a piece, and need accurate setting up if there to last. Big Chriss as a summer time jet skier I salute you. The life boat service is as importance as the fire service and ambulance, except with out the wages. A charity we should all surport. THANK YOU

Check out the time of my last post! couldnt sLeep. That's the first and only time I've ever used it on a tractor, not only would it be aggro to replumb the original brakes to the fiddles it not road worthy unless, (unless it was done with tandem peddles whitch locked together as one, for road use) I was thinking a separate system. Easy on a landrover (abdul) as they have handbrake on prop/gearbox. However don't want cables not offroad crude proof. So what now.

Like he said....If you were heavy into trialling / competitions there's no doubt you would improve anything you could to get an 'edge' on others.
I wouldn't know where to start setting them up.
Offroading tho....your better off giving it some welly IMHO ;D

If u was little. Chris I'd carry u on my shoulders, every time u launched u properly saved at least one life some ones son, daughter, mum, dad, brother etc....don't play it down ur one of lifes heros so u weren't in the boat? U still done more than me and put yourself out...right it's a project in my head when I'm at home going stagnant. I brought the subject up to get the site members chatting. I'm in a position to salvage the parts I need and fit myself(so i'm in for nothing and it's a little toy to play with) I would use it when momentum was lost (by locking the wheel with no traction) as u stated before. The way I intended to do this is by fitting (welding) another alternative calliper to each rear brake disc ( thus not affecting the normal vehicle braking system, thus still road legal) then connecting the system with a single brake pipe(with flexy pipe to allow for axle travel) from each calliper to it's own master cylinder ( single shot from a fluid clutch system ie range rover mini etc) and then use a lever to push the master cylinder ( as the pedal normally would) via a rod. For got to add the master cylinders would be inside the vehicle.in my mind I would like to use auto gear stick levers as I would the brakes to self release when I let go (if I used handbrakes I would have to do away with the locking mech) don't thing it would be tricky to operate as I would be stationary when using. This does come with a down fall does anyone (not lee as I feel lees far better than me and will no start away) know what it is? It's to do with stoping one wheel.. Oh yeah tecno I only planed on do the rear (for this reason funny enough
