Good evening.
With winter on its way I want to keep my Sj as rust free as possible, is it worth painting or coating the chassis and other exposed bits with waxoyl or similar? What do you guys use and where's best to get it from?
Thanks for any help!
Also is it possible/a good idea to change the rear brakes to discs from drums on an sj413?

The brakes i was always advised to keep the same! as for the chassis etc i painted mine with black body paint from a vehicle paint shop! I wire brushed the whole under side and repainted with black paint apart from the brake balance valve half way down the chassis i painted with red oxide. also i painted the underside of the shell as well which did help keep out the rust and then when rust appeared you can deal with it and repaint black. it also helped with cleaning cos i found the mud would come off a little easier and you can also see where you have missed with a jet wash but others may have different ideas but this worked for me at the time!

I'd paint the underside 'CHASSIS BLACK' It's a thick paint you can buy from auto paint shops.....only one I know is cars paints in Broadstairs.

ive used tetra shultz if yoy have an air compressor and gun, you get it in cans from either Cars or you can get it from Partco on Haine road, i squirted the underside with shultz then went over it with waxoyl it goes a bit gooey but dries ok in the end and i think thats the best protection to be honest, if you go into cars they sometimes have tins of cavity wax in their specials basket by the counter and its only about 3 quid a litre then.

Spray Shultz is a bit out dated but also just covers exsisting rust where paint once treated i think is better for an off road sj b ut its all down to ones own choice at the end of the day!
