Hello All. Although I've been an infrequent visitor to Leigh's since I bought my first SJ in 2003 and a few people know me, I thought it about time I introduced myself on the forum for the benefit of those people who wondered “who was the old bloke at the Christmas Do?”.
My first Suzuki, Brian, an SJ413, and by the time I let it go it had been modified to be a SJ416 with disc brakes all round, 410 diffs, pro comp shocks, polybushed parabolic springs, 215 Bronco Diamond Race tyres and a nifty camo soft top and wheel cover combo. This saw many pay n play days and green laning trips including Wales, the Lake District and the Peak District in the 4 years I had it.
Jeep No.2 was an automatic LWB Vitara 2.0 TDi as I needed something the wife would drive and I could fit my teenage kids, unfortunately once I'd fitted the OME 3 inch lift kit, BFG mud tyres and she wouldn't drive it, I kept this one for 2 years while I was building Jeep No.3. This one also saw action in the Peaks and Lake District as well as Woodlands.
Jeep No.3 was Kermit, the green LJ80 and the vehicle I wanted after seeing Leigh's little green LJ80 – I bought this one from the first owner who worked for the Muppet Workshop (hence the name) and I decided to kept it simple: parabolic springs, extended shackles, SJ410 1 litre engine with a 4 branch manifold, 31 10 tyres on OZ alloys. I had it for 2 years and then sold it last Easter. It's still around the group, but a little different looking now since it got modified by rolling it in the snow!!
Jeep No.4 and current ride is a SWB Vitara 1.6 auto. Once again with the 3 inch OME lift and now running a set of 31 10's, it's getting there and it's growing on me but I should never have sold Kermit ....
… so on to the next project – Jeep No.5 is another LJ80 (the sand coloured one is how it was, the blue one is how it is now, some of you may recognise it).
That's me up to date ... hope to see you around sometime
